Cal Brown has over 25 years of experience in the financial services field. He received his Masters of Science in Taxation (MST) at American University in Washington, D.C., and graduated cum laude from the University of Arkansas with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Mr. Brown is currently an Adjunct Professor in the MST program at American University, teaching the estate planning course.Cal Brown has over 25 years of experience in the financial services field. Cal is a member of the Financial Planning Association and past Chairman of the National Capital Area chapter (FPA-NCA), and received the Norma Severns Leadership Award for extraordinary efforts on behalf or for the benefit of the local chapter. Mr. Brown speaks regularly at the FPA National Conference.
The Washingtonian magazine recently named Cal as one of the top 33 financial planners in the greater Washington, D.C. metro area. Mr. Brown has three professional contributions published in the Journal of Financial Planning and has authored articles appearing in Bloomberg Wealth Manager and Financial Planning magazines. He has appeared on CNBC, Fox 5 DC, the PBS "Nightly Business Report," WAVA-FM (Washington, D.C.), and has been featured in the Wall Street Journal. He has also been quoted in Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine, Smart Money, Newsweek, U.S. News and World Report, CNNfn, Financial Planning magazine, Mutual Funds magazine, and Investment News.
Cal manages all planning efforts and special projects including conducting financial analyses for clients, is a member of The Monitor Group's Investment Committee, and serves as a relationship manager for many of the firm's clients. Cal is also responsible for the firm's operations in the President's absence.
